Prayer Meeting at Aunt Mary Wrights Home

Scout Executive J. P. Mestrezat led a Lordsburg meeting and conferred with leaders about badge awards. Tenderfoot through Life and Eagle badges were approved for Harry Chase and Marquis Smith, with Marquis set to receive the Eagle from the Lions Club. Marquis Smith becomes the 82nd Eagle Scout in the El Paso area.

About forty members from the Par ent-Teacher Association traveled to Virden for an evening gathering with the Virden group. Morningstar led the program with remarks and guests from Lordsburg, including Supt. Vernon O. Tolle and Mrs. G. L. Ross. Mrs. Fulton presided at the piano as Mrs. Ross and Mr. H Rosenstein sang. The Virden group showcased parts of their program and served popcorn and fudge to cap the event. Community spirit and collaboration were praised as strong points of the Virden neighbors.

Vivian Bass Dies After Fall From Horse Near Cloverdale

Vivian Bass of Cloverdale is killed when his horse became unmanageable and threw him over a precipice near his ranch. The body was found two days later and taken to Douglas for burial preparations. Rev. W W Wilkerson led funeral services in Lordsburg for the deceased. He leaves a wife and child, with many relatives and friends mourning.

Animas Young People Meet for Prayer Service

Four cars carried members of the Young People's Community Society of Animas to the Nazarene Young People's Society gathering at Mr and Mrs Vernon Wrights home. The regular monthly meeting of the Parent-Teachers Association is scheduled for next Monday evening at eight o'clock in the high school gym. At a Lordsburg American Legion meeting D C Lusk was chosen vice commander to replace Chas T Swain who moved to Phoenix for a Greyhound promotion.
