Flying Field Near Lordsburg Pleases Visitors

Lt. L D Weddington and Sgt Rhodes visited a government flying field northeast of town near the stockyards. A Chamber of Commerce committee led by G P Jeffus and others guided them, giving a luncheon in thanks as the site was found very satisfactory.

85 Branch of C and A Mining Co Largest County Industry

The 85 Mine of the Calumet and Arizona Mining Co is shipping 8000 tons of siliceous copper ore monthly to the Douglas Smelter. The shaft nears 1860 feet depth, with new levels opening at 1500 1650 and 1800 feet. Payroll last month reached 300 workers, and the company spends about 14000 monthly on rail freight. A cooperative store for employees offers a 10 percent year end dividend.

Valedon Social Scene Includes Carnival and Christmas Tree Plan

Miss Margaret Maloney and Mrs Luella Clark traveled to Silver City and back. The Valedon Social Club carnival Friday drew strong crowds with candy balloons confetti coffee and hot dogs. Music was by Miss Young and the community Christmas tree program is under planning with a Christmas Eve event expected.
