In Duncan Alabama Pvt Jose A Baca son of Jose P and Martha Baca completed OSUT at Fort Benning GA earning light weapons infantryman and indirect fire crewman qualifications. Airman Arthur M Altuna son of Arthur and Rachel Altuna graduated from the US Air Force food services course at Lowry AFB CO and will serve at Homestead AFB FL with the 31st Services Squadron. Hidalgo County Association of Handicapped Citizens will not meet in December.

Residents completed decorating and await Santas arrival as Elks Lodge hosts a December 25 Christmas dinner for veterans and Elks. DECA and 4-H volunteers plan doors decor on December 13, with 43 doors decorated. Nievas Martinez gathered trees. prayers go to Marie Brown. Staff holiday party on December 16 includes pot luck and gift exchange.

The local American Cancer Society unit hosted its Annual Christmas Party on December 14 at the Civic Center.
