A youth shooting event titled Optimist Youth Shoot will be held Saturday December 15 at the Todd Beasley Rifle Range beginning at 9 00 A M Participants are expected to compete in the morning session showcasing local youth marksmanship skills at the range.
The Hidalgo County Commission conducted its regular session on Tuesday December 11 marking the final meeting for outgoing commissioners Bill Collins and Joe D Croom. The session began with the board approving routine agenda items and acknowledging the departing members.
Hidalgo County Fair set for September 27 28 1985 will be joined by the Chamber with carnival during Fair Days. Fair Board President Will Swift and Francis Calderon of the Chamber announced the effort to attract open dates and promote advance ticket sales. The two organizations hope for strong in county citizen support and broader participation in plans including a police unit bid process.
The City Corner letter from Mayor Pro-Tem Arthur Clark Smith thanks the Lordsburg Chamber of Commerce, local merchants and schools for the holiday Gift Show success and the community cleanup effort. Local businesses supplied meals lodging and gifts while Sheriff Pablo Sanchez Jr led the effort. The group arrived at 2 p.m. and joined local decoration parties and moonlight festivities the day ended with dance lessons and community camaraderie. Lordsburg praised the visitors for enriching the town and supporting a successful Holiday Gift Show and Moonlight Madness Safe event.
