Virginia Slover 79 dies after long illness in Douglas
Virginia Slover 79 of Animas and Douglas died at Southeast Arizona Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born February 5 1909 in Mineral Park she helped run a ranch with her late husband Buford Slover Sr and raised Hereford and later Braford cattle. Funeral Friday December 9 at Brown Page Mortuary Douglas with graveside at Cloverdale New Mexico. she is survived by a sister a daughter two sons five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Lordsburg increases residential and commercial garbage rates by one dollar per month after a November 30 city council special session. Revenue will fund a new garbage truck with Rand Automated Systems of Plainview submitting the lower bid of 58,507.50 dollars. the other bid is not listed. Mayor Smith said after payoff of the truck, excess funds go to a sanitation department reserve.

Survived by his mother Dorothy Poe of Lordsburg and many friends. Visitation Tuesday 9 to 12 at Baca's Heather Chapel. Graveside service 2 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery with Rev. Byron Glenn officiating. Lordsburg National Guard provided Military Honors.
