M Briel Comes Home For The Last Time

Robert Briel beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. D W Briel dies in Peoria area car crash. He studied at Bradley Polytechnic Institute and New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts. The funeral drew Lordsburg Lodge A F and A M members and many friends.

P O B Test Reaches Depth Near Lordsburg

The P O Bvil test west of Lordsburg reaches a depth of about 104 feet with formations showing oil content. G H Lackland, in charge, notes casing problems and time spent to stabilize the well. Samples are sent to G and Staley Santa Fe for monthly operation reports and a uranium examination is underway.

The Lordsburg bakery owners Mr and Mrs Harry Wacker install a new J L Day Company mixer capable of 300 pounds of flour per batch. The three phase three horsepower motor provides speeds for cake or bread dough as the building opens this week.

Wright Dies Suddenly in Lordsburg Sunday

W P Wright, long-time resident of Lordsburg and nearby county, died Sunday evening at 4 40 P M at age 44. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Thursday at 10 A M with interment at Mountain View cemetery. His wife, Mrs W P Wright, a San Diego native, and three Texas sisters attended.

Mr and Mrs Geo C Findley Miss Lilian Wadford and George Moore of Clifton Arizona were guests of Dr and Mrs F Wadford and son Clinton for Thanksgiving. The party motored to the Hed Rock country and had dinner at the W C Conner ranch. They returned to Clifton on Friday.

The Lordsburg football squad enjoyed a turkey dinner at Hidalgo Grill after Townsend bought twenty three plates. Banquet Monday at six and Thursday Eddie Allen of the Lordsburgh Theatre invited the team to a show. attendance was 100 percent and the squad thanks him for support.

LHS Pep Rally Turns Morenci Game Eve Into Town Event

Lordsburg High School students staged a pep meeting and bonfire to honor the Morenci game. Captain Hill led 100 youths along Front Street to Mission Filling Station, where the band played, then to a lit rubbish heap at the north of the telephone office. The crowd cheered as the fire burned, with thanks to Fire Chief Gene Montague and crew. The Thanksgiving game saw Morenci’s late effort fail after a pivotal drive, while LHS players, including Captain Hill and Jeffus, fought hard. New students Wilma Kerr and Edith Bartlett joined the school community. The report also notes science field trip, typing contest leaders Milred Conner and Marie Flick, vocational visit by D. W. Rockey, and basketball preparations.

Visitors from Ed Paso Deming and Washington arrived in Lordsburg to honor Mr. Birchfield. An elaborate turkey dinner for seventeen followed at Hidalgo Grill as relatives and guests, including Mrs Hirchfeld and Miss Muriel Davis, prepared to depart for Bilver Gily Hurley then home. Miss Davis plans to return to Washington after four months in El Paso with Mrs Hirchfeld.
