Sheriff's Dept Takes Keys To 18 Wheeler
Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department seized an 18 wheeler with over 300 pounds of cocaine plus evidence of transporting more than 1700 pounds to New York. Michael Lappi of U S Customs credited joint efforts with the sheriff's office and Customs for the operation valued at 65000 dollars, with 2600 dollars seized money earmarked to fight drug trafficking.

Christmas tree permits are on sale at all District Ranger Stations except the Wilderness. The Mimbres station is open weekends through December 20. December 24 is the last day to obtain a permit for a Christmas tree and for wood cutting. Gem Show Draws 23 Dealers Signed Up Early

Josh O Byarne son of Mr and Mrs John O Byarne wins the world championship bull riding at Coors World Finals in El Paso on November 14. He earned about $3000, a gold and silver buckle, a saddle and a 15X hat after rides of 75 79 and 82 points. This marks the first time a New Mexico rider has claimed the title. Electric Light Caravan rolls through town Friday night
Lordsburg hosts its first Electric Light Christmas Caravan Friday at 6 00 PM with the Moonlight Madness Sale. The route starts at the Border Cowboy on West Motel Drive then along Second Fourth and Main Streets to Wabash and the Nursing Home toward the Projects.
