Weekend Traffic Mishap Near Lordsburg Causes Property Damage

A 1951 Ford towing a house trailer driven by Elti Wright of Albuquerque collided with a 1952 Buick driven by Ismael Magana of Sonora Arizona on Highway 80 twelve miles west of Lordsburg. A blowout from the Buick is blamed for the crash. no injuries reported but the trailer suffered heavy damage. Several individuals were fined for speeding and other offenses, including Alexander Carameros, Evan Jones, Maggie Jones, Howard Miller, James Winningham, and Ira Van with varying sums.

Mavericks Win Two Conference Games Last Week

Lordsburg Mavericks open 1953 54 season by beating Hatch Bears 41 38 after trailing at halftime. Smith scored 17 for Lordsburg while Maxwell led Weed with 13 in a 52 14 win. Mavericks also won the B team game. preliminary results noted.

Radar traffic control begins in section with fines posted

State Police report a radar speed check last Wednesday and again Saturday, catching over fifty violators. Fines ranged from 13.50 to 28.50, totaling just over 600 dollars for the state school fund. Three bus drivers were cited. others fled payment and were bonded in Las Cruces to face Lordsburg fines. Highest speed recorded 85 mph. The program will continue indefinitely with stricter enforcement and no warnings.

Traffic Safety Campaign Under Way Details 1952 New Mexico Vehicle Toll

The December Safe Driving campaign opens with releases from the Governor's Traffic Safety Coordinating Committee.
