Scott Family Heads to Florida by Car

W. W. Scott and family with Horace Grant left Wednesday for Florida to visit Mr. Scott’s ailing father. He plans to reach the destination about 2000 miles away by Sunday night.

Central Junior High Honors and Scout News

Eighteen students make the Central Junior High Honor Roll for the second six weeks while sixty seven are on the lower grade report. Boy Scout Troop 123, with twelve boys, awaits registration. Third grade wins checkerboard chart with a 94 average and eighth grade tops spelling chart with a 98. Girl Scouts met on November 21 and Wildkat Paige pursues another merit badge as an interesting program was presented.

Lordsburg High School Junior Class stage The Clay's The Thing

The Junior Class presents a three act comedy in the high school auditorium next Thursday December seventh at 7 PM. The cast includes Jack Norman Luke Calloway Jerry Taylor Millie Mary Norman Jessie Stewart Jay Parmer Julia Parmer Deems and others. The plot follows Jack who has a beauty clay formula and with Luke dresses Jerry as a girl to enter a national beauty contest leading to a string of funny situations and a strong finale. Admission is thirty five cents for adults fifteen cents for students and children. Mrs. Silver directs. The 1933 event promises lively humor and a polished production.

H C Stuart horticulturist from State College spoke at the Court House last Thursday, demonstrating lawn and tree care with a sand miniature garden. He urged barnyard manure fertilization and advised Bermuda grass for local conditions as part of a five year plan to beautify Lordsburg.

The Lordsburg Lions hear reports on a transient camp near El Paso, Hidalgo County CWA support after a Santa Fe meeting, and a tree planting program with State College horticulturist H Stuart. State Engineer approves work of the co operators

Thomas M. McChire state regineer and assistant John Bliss inspected the cooperative farmers in charge of experiment stations with county agent L. C. Brown. They reviewed the work of Barney Wood W. P. Hill B. T. Dunlap D. A. Lee and T. D. Strickland and may add one more for 1934. Examinations also covered Virden and Hidalgo county mapping plans for cultivated areas to be laid off in tracts for agricultural benefit. The State Engineer and County agent are praised as public benefactors.

Interference Located By Texas Company Aide

For months a buzzing interference disrupted daytime radio reception, hindering the airport station. Lewis Green bought a radio and donated his services to the Texas-Louisiana Power Company to locate the source at the Bonnie mine. County Home Demonstration Clubs Meetings

Women across Cloverdale Animas Hodeo and surrounding areas held meat canning demonstrations to boost summer supplies. 130 Men Go To Work Today On CWA Projects

Hidalgo County moves forward with a 130 man CWA program under Civic Welfare Administration and NRA committees. Projects include 75 mile Lordsburg to Cloverdale highway, 7 mile Virden highway, Animas to Grant county line road, Lordsburg city park, and school grounds beautification. Wages range from 50 to 75 cents an hour depending on skill. Officials praising planning and federal state coordination report strong progress.
