Dismissal Denied at New Mexico Human Rights Hearing
The New Mexico Human Rights Commission opened hearings as City of Lordsburg fights discrimination complaints filed by 17 city employees in June. Attorney C N Morris argued to drop the case as filed past 90 days, but Commissioner Albert Johnson rejected the motion and the proceedings continued with Johnson Alfredo Abalos and Josephine Battese presiding. The session, held in Hidalgo County Court House, covered alleged discriminatory hiring promotion and pay policies with testimony noting racial disparities and walk out after forms were demanded.
