Walter of Animas is named a junior member of the American Hereford Association, the world’s largest registry. Seventy seven junior Hereford breeders joined the roster in July as the association holds over twenty thousand active breeder accounts nationwide. The last fiscal year saw 488 998 purebred calves registered and the year’s total recordings set a record, nearly double that of other major beef breeds.

Jail Sentence Given In Child Beating Case
Ronald D. Butcher 23 of Lordsburg pleaded guilty in municipal court to assault and received 90 days in jail from Judge C. L. Brown. He was charged with beating his 4 year old daughter Beverly Jean with an electrical extension cord after the child was taken to a physician for examination. The child’s mother, an invalid in a wheelchair with a 7 month old, has neighbors offering to help.
