Paratrooper Guzman Joins 508th In Combat Training
Pvt Alfred M Guzman now serves with the 508th Parachute Infantry at Camp Mackall N C after earning his wings on March 6 1943. He is a Lordsburg New Mexico native whose mother Mrs Guadalupe Guzman resides there. Guzman joined the Army in 1942 and studied at Lordsburg High School before working for Banner Mining Company. The 608th Parachute Regiment praised the unit for its spirit and discipline despite weather fatigue and hunger. The 50th is led by Col Roy E Linquist a 1920 West Point graduate and pioneering parachutist.
