Animas School Starts 1966 67 Term In August

Animas Public Schools plan for the 1966 67 term with registration on Friday August 26 and the first day of classes Monday August 29. Buses will run routes and reach Animas and Rodeo schools at 9 30 a m for registration. Improvements include a Curriculum Materials Center, gym additions, stage alterations, and two new teacherages. The high school faculty increases by one. classes run 8 35 a m to 3 25 p m. lunches will be served on opening day. A complete faculty list will be released later.

Local VFW Post Honored at State Convention in Clovis

Lordsburg VFW post earned high honors at the New Mexico state convention in Clovis. Commander Arturo Saucedo named outstanding commander of the year and received a commander's hat and jacket. Quartermaster James Kinkema repeated as outstanding of the year, winning a jacket plus life membership months ago. Carlos Saucedo, past junior vice commander and Community Service Program chair, got a flags set. Meetings held monthly at the La Fiesta Club. 1967 membership cards available from Jim Kinkema.

Football Film To Be Shown Monday At High School

Coach Garrett announces a free public screening of the 1965 State Championship Double A football game between Highlands High School and Webbe High School. The event is Monday August 15 at 7 30 p m in the High School auditorium with new coaches in attendance and Maverick season tickets on sale.

Lordsburg All Stars Fall to St Ann's in Close Seven Inning Game

The Lordsburg All Stars lost 28 to 27 to St Ann's of Deming on Wednesday night in a seven inning game. Lordsburg led 27 to 24 after six innings before St Ann's erupted for four runs in the seventh and shut out the hosts in the bottom of the final frame.

St Josephs Fiesta Opens August 13 With Food Sale

The St Josephs Fiesta begins Saturday August 13 at noon with a Mexican food sale and games including roulette dice musical chairs darts and penny pitch. A second sale and games follow Sunday at noon, ending with a Sunday dance featuring the Galaxies. the public is invited.

Lordsburg Municipal Schools unveil the announces calendar with August 23 start and August 24 registration. The faculty list names superintendents principals and two dozen teachers across English math science and specialist subjects for the coming year.

Dr Emilio Mora Lectures in London and Wins Fellowship

Dr Emilio Mora, a 1947 graduate of Wri High School, returned from London where he lectured on microanatomy and was named a Fellow of the Royal Microscopical Society. He travels to Utah State University to lecture on virus infection control by white blood cells. he is a professor at Auburn University.

Conner Accepts BLM Cooperation Memorandum
