Balmforth M S Woman Passes Away In Sudden Death

The sudden death of Mrs A J Yimforth of Yaledon occurred after a mal operation at Lords Hospital on Wednesday night. She was beloved in the city for civic work and social involvement. Burial will be in Los Angeles after immediate relatives accompany the body. Mr and Mrs Balmforth have lived here five years, he a C A M line branch superintendent.

Lordsburg Calvary Troop Heads to Two Week Encampment

The Lordsburg cavalry platoon of Troop E 11th Cavalry leaves Monday for a two week encampment at Las Vegas to Santa Fe with about 25 miles daily march. Lt McCarthy thanks mess men for cooperation letting men attend the encampment.

World Scout Jamboree Opens in Birkenhead England

More than 50 000 scouts from 42 nations gather in Birkenhead to begin the world jamboree with 1 500 from the United States. The event runs until August 15 with campfires, handicraft exhibitions, folk dancing and athletic contests on the program.

Telephone Manager Moves to Gallup

O P Allen longtime Mountain State Telephone Co manager in this city transfers to Gallup to run the plant and system there effective immediately. The local successor is not announced but Ronald Saunders supporters hope he fills the position. The Allen family leaves with friends' best wishes as the plant expansion under his tenure boosted subscribers from under 100 to over 300.

Stolen Buick Roadster Found Abandoned in City

Police picked up an abandoned Buick Roadster Sunday. It belonged to J. A. Walker of Douglas Arizona. Walker came over after the car earlier in the week. No information on the driver who abandoned it was found.

Wayne Estes and His Mayo Diet Lunch in Lordsburg

Wayne Estes arrived in Lordsburg with eighteen diet menus for an eighteen day plan. For the noon meal he ordered a small cheese serving one tomato one half grapefruit one slice dry toast and tea with no sugar. He says he has lost four pounds since starting the Mayo diet.

City to Send Trio to Santa Fe on Street Paving talks

At a City Council meeting a committee was named to travel to Santa Fe and interview the State Highway department about co operation on Mailroad Avenue paving. Mayor Hanner selected JH Cross and W fb Hall to make the trip and report back after meeting the Highway commission.

Claude Daniels and Jessie Leon Burr of Los Angeles were married in Lordsburg in August at the Methodist Church. Rev. John Kier performed the ceremony with W. E B. Holt as witness. The bride is related to Gen. Lou Wallace and Gen. Zachary Taylor. The couple spent several days in Lordsburg before returning to California.

Arthur M Lockhart of the fio Grande Oil Company reports the Fokker tri motor with 0 ft wingspan and 1275 HP, cruising at 148 MPH, will reach Lordsburg on Monday or Tuesday. The airship landed after a Los Angeles to New York leg, with a crowd awaiting at the airport and a party of Lockhart family and New York and Phoenix guests planning two weeks of fishing and recreation at Gila Farms.
