Charles Ray Walters seven year old son of Mr and Mrs Charles Walters of Lordsburg was momentarily knocked unconscious when he lost control of his bicycle and hit a trailer in the underpass. He suffered bruises and a black eye though X rays at Hidalgo County Hospital showed no broken bones or contusion. He swerved to avoid a car after brakes failed and was startled into a fall.

Lordsburg Youth Severely Injured In Freak Accident
Eighteen year old Frank Schmidt, son of Mrs. H Judson Mead, was seriously wounded when a .22 pistol exploded as he handled it on the Payne ranch near Lordsburg. The bullet traversed the abdomen four times, and Frank underwent a two hour and forty minute operation with a blood transfusion from his brother David. Doctors say his condition is fair and improving.
