State Coaches School Sends Probert to Assist South All Stars
Coach Paul Probert travels from Tuesday to Albuquerque for two weeks at the State Coaching School run by the Albuquerque Lions Club and the State Coaches and Officials Association. He will serve as assistant coach to the South All-Star football team. Harold Taylor of Lordsburg is on the team, selected by coaches led by Nelson Tydings of Hobbs. Taylor totted 128 points for New Mexico last season.

City Council Debates Airport Improvements and Parking Lease
Monday meeting notes show Alan Koff's report on airport improvements costing about £70000 with a proposed concrete apron around the hangar worth $5000 which the council declined. The new airline slated to begin operations sought the apron. Ernest Short received a liquor license by package at Hidalgo Courts. Officers received a $2500 monthly raise. A spraying machine and a drilling rig were ordered to support street work and DDT spraying. Street marking pipes and a stop and go light underpass on Main Railroad Ave were discussed. A committee will meet with school officials on crossing safety. A Petterson telegram supported a favorable parking lot report near the depot and a city lease to expand downtown parking.
