Lordsburg Sun Princess to Represent Sun Carnival
Linda J. Noce, 18, daughter of Mr and Mrs Fugene Noce, will be Lordsburg’s Sun Princess for the 1972 73 El Paso Texas Sun Carnival. A 1971 Lordsburg High School graduate, she is a sophomore at New Mexico State University Las Cruces majoring in elementary education and enjoys swimming.

140 incoming freshmen at New Mexico State University receive full tuition of 466 dollars for the first year based on high school academic achievement and teacher recommendations. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 GPA fall semester and 3.2 overall later to earn 75 percent tuition sophomore year, 50 percent junior year, and 25 percent senior year. Portales resident Tom Fern Calhoun, 43, died after a three car crash on Interstate 10 nine miles west of Lordsburg. Calhoun was assisting a stranded motorist when a second vehicle struck a trailer being pulled by Richard Barnett of Selma Alabama, pinning Calhoun between the trailer and Barnett’s car.
