The Friday bridge club met at the home of Mrs Richard Tatsch last Friday with guests Mrs Oscar Allen and Miss Beryl Chattin. Mrs Bavens won high score and refreshments of strawberry ice cream cookies and ice tea were served. Mrs Tatsch was assisted by Miss Dorothy Singer in serving.

Elliott Roosevelt and his wife Ruth Googinen visited Lordsburg after driving from El Paso. Sunday School Tea At Methodist Church Aids Young Mission

The Methodist Sunday School held a tea Monday afternoon in the church basement despite heat and vacations. Superintendent Fuller led the program with Mrs. McInnis and Mrs. Singer, plus several young helpers, offering music two vaudeville sketches and a game before serving tea. Guests sent offerings in silver or tea for the cause, and locals and visitors extended thanks to the students, leaders, and the “standing army” of regulars for summer work and timely support.

Free Sport and Trade Day Draws Record Crowd

A large summer crowd attended the free sport and trade day last Saturday. George D. Walser organized the boxing events on the Citizen Conservation Service program drawing the day’s largest crowd. Lordsburg beat Rodeo in baseball by a wide margin. A man versus horse race saw John Ball on Carley's Dimples lose to the horse by half a length after an obstruction near the finish.

Injured at Horse Show Mrs Macey Suffers Fracture

Mrs. G. D. Macey wife of the State Highway Engineer and sister of Mrs Norman McCluskey was injured practicing jumping for a horse show on a slippery wet ground when the horse fell catching its front feet. She is confined to bed with a fracture on the left side and head, unconscious for about an hour before recovering. She expects to be out in about ten days and has won cups at Army Horse Shows including Ft. Bliss.
