Judge Hodges Attends National Trial Judges College

District Court Judge Norman Hodges left Saturday for Chapel Hill North Carolina to attend the National College of Trial Judges at the University of North Carolina. The four week program runs July 29 through August 16 with long study days and seminars funded by the Kellogg and Fleischman foundations and led by the American Bar Association.

A $125000 damage suit has been filed in U S District Court in Albuquerque over a August 15, 1966 crash near Lordsburg. Juan F Lugo Basilio A Lugo of San Jose California sue Eldon Lee Troyer Sam Tanksley and O H and F Inc alleging their car was rear ended on the highway east of Lordsburg by a tractor semi driven by Troyer owned by Tanksley and connected with O H and F Inc of Marion Ohio.

Insurance agent James D. Luper killed in auto crash

James D. Luper 42 owner of Luper Insurance Adjustors of Silver City died Tuesday night when his car overturned on State Road 60 about 18 miles north of Lordsburg. Investigators said braking to avoid an obstacle likely caused the skid and rollover. Survivors include wife Virginia of Silver City and mother Mrs Myrtle Leiper of Truth or Consequences. Funeral set for 10:30 am Friday at Foret Baptist Church on Swan Street.

Final Hearing Set Over Moore Ballot Candidacy

Bank Robbery Narrowly Escaped in Lordsburg

It happened in Hidalgo County fifty years ago a bandit robbed the First State Bank of Lordsburg escaping with 1300 dollars. Officers from the 65 Mine and State Mounted Police searched but found no clues. A separate incident reports a recent vagrancy and bawdy house sentence followed by an assault on District Attorney J S Vought at Rodeo. Judge Ryan offered boxing training to Vought if he pursued a welterweight career.

Sugar Beet Acreage Restrictions Stir New Mexico Delegation

Hidalgo County faces potential sugar beet planting limits in 1969 after wet weather reduced plantings to about 1,000 acres from 1,500 in 1967. Senator Clinton P. Baby of Mr and Mrs Edmund Callasid dies in FiPo

Alinas Baby Dieu Yonn seven month old daughter of Mr and Mrs Edmund Callasid died at Hotel Dieu in FiPo on Wednesday night July 31. Funeral arrangements are pending with Heather Mortuary.
