They funded the trip themselves and claim Morris has done well as a freshman congressman. Also noted is a fish planting event at the Virden box on the Gila River with 1505 trout released from River Hatchery to aid local fishing as Tom Jensens's son tried the new stock but found no bites.

The 7th District Spring Conference of The American Legion and Auxiliary is slated for April 30–May 1 in Lordsburg. Events center at the Legion Hall with Hotel Hidalgo as headquarters. Registration starts 6 p.m. Saturday. Delegates meet 1:30 p.m. Saturday, followed by banquet and dance. Sunday includes memorial services, church services, and district officer elections. Local posts include Hurley, Lordsburg, Silver City, and Central. A pre-conference wreck at La Fiesta Club is planned.
