Calumet & Arizona Copper Output Near Half Million Tons in 1926
Bisbee Ari z April 26 Calumet & Arizona in its Bisbee mines last year produced very close to 500000 tons of ore an average in the past three years. The average number of employees was 958 assigned to the Briges Junction and Cole mines. The Campbell shaft drift is about half completed. Ore shipped to the Douglas smelter averaged 487 percent copper compared with 484 percent the prior year. Pumping from the Junction shaft averaged 2851 gallons per minute. Smelter production reached 112588220 pounds of 99.2 percent copper a new plant record without increasing equipment. The sulphuric acid plant operated at capacity in October for the first time since 1919 and will be busy under current contracts. The year’s sales totaled 45915526 pounds of copper to the refinery at 13.843 cents and dividends paid 86 a share totaling 3856542. Since organization the company has paid over 58000000 in dividends.

Popular Matron Kate Washburn’s Tragic Resolve
The funeral for Mere Kate Washburn 24 daughter of Mr and Mrs J G McCulloch was held Friday at Duncan cemetery. She shot herself Thursday while convalescing from typhoid fever after returning home from Lordsburg hospital. She had married Jesse Washburn of Kleines New Mexico a year prior and taught in Bleina before living in Lordsburg.
