At the Willcox oil well on Monday April 12 a favorable oil showing was found at about 1590 feet. The formation is a very hard conglomerate. An open hole will be drilled as far as possible before casing. Local enthusiasm grows. Bowie News.
Attorney A. W. Morningstar traveled to Deming to represent Birtrong Brothers and Blake who pleaded guilty to holding up railroad workers on the Hachita branch south of town. Judge Ryan sentenced each to three to five years in the state pen, a punishment the court hoped would serve as a lesson.
J. Truman chief baggageman of the Southern Pacific has purchased a fine home in Lordsburg. Mr and Mrs Truman and their baby have moved into the bungalow at the corner of Fifth and High recently bought from W H Small.
Tom Nichols will open a brick fronted store that will be a credit to the town when Jack Heather completes the Reliable Tire Rubber Co building. A fire sale continues in the rear of the store.
A wireless report says the Columbus School Band, winner of the state Las Cruces contest, will give a Friday evening concert in Lordsburg at 7. Supt. W. B. Summers Jr. who built the Lordsburg group will accompany the band to greet friends. Summers and his wife and son visited relatives last weekend.
