Easter Sunrise Service At School Stadium In Lordsburg

The Federation of Womens Clubs in Lordsburg hosts the annual Easter Sunrise Service at the school stadium Sunday at 6:00 A M. Rev Joe Underwood Evangelist Baptist Church is the speaker with Bishop Allan Hill delivering the invocation and Rev Dale Webb reading scripture. The program includes choir, readings, hymns, and benediction with clergy from local churches.

Mr and Mrs J F Slick Houser have purchased Dudley Package Store at Railroad and Shakespeare corner. They took over April 1 and renamed it Slicks Package and Sporting Goods. Mrs Houser cites Easter candy magazines and a new baseball equipment line plus work gloves.

Wilson Speaker At Coll Banquet

L D Wilson chief engineer of the New Mexico State Highway Commission will speak at the Lordsburg Hidalgo County Chamber of Commerce banquet on Monday night April 12 at 7 30 PM at the American Legion Hall. The turkey dinner is served by the American Legion Auxiliary. He will discuss highway construction in the Lordsburg area and the Federal Highway program including the two lane highway now under construction. The 4 586 mile highway 70 80 through Lordsburg will be let on April 6 designated Federal Aid Project F002-1(2). Leo Cohen is general chairman of arrangements.

Knob Knockers Fail In Try At Lordsburg High

Burglars attempted to break into Lordsburg High School Sunday night using pitch bars and a 16 hour hammer. They forced a hole in the outer door and damaged desks while taking less than $20 in cash and about 80 cents from a Pepsi machine. Authorities believe amateurs committed the break in.

Lordsburg Little League forms with eight teams

Names have been drawn and players assigned to eight teams for the new Lordsburg Little League. Practice sessions begin early next week with fields being prepared.
