Farewell party honors Miss Mildred Hill before Lake City departure

Miss Mildred Hill, daughter of Mrs. Albert Hill, was honored at a well attended farewell party at the Pythian Temple Friday prior to her year long Mission work for the Day Saints church in the States. About 45 guests attended as ceremonies included an invocation by George Richins and a musical program with solos by Richard Mortensen and others. Refreshments followed the fixed program, with Hill, a Lord High School graduate and former secretary of the chamber, to depart for Lake City Tuesday with sister Shirrell.

Lions Club hears visit from Jimmie Zinn of Albuquerque Cards

The Lions Club met Tuesday at noon with James Zinn new Albuquerque Cardinals manager as guest. Zinn and fellow Lion Austin served in the AEF in France and will travel between Tucson and Bisbee all summer. Mayfield named a nominating committee for May 6 and set play night for April 24 with Scofield, Robinson and Chase in charge. Lordsburg Mohair Pool Grows 86,252 Pounds For 28 Growers

The Lordsburg Mohair Pool handled the spring clip for twenty eight growers, totaling 86,252 pounds of mohair. Growers received 44,726.41 dollars as Mrs. Zola W. Claridge of Thatcher Arizona bought the hair for Forte Dupee and Sawyer Company of Boston Massachusetts at 49 and 65 cents.

Visitors Tour Grand Canyon Family Trip to California

Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Singer and their children Don and Dorothy traveled during the Easter holidays to Wilmington California to visit Mrs. Singer's brother H Barneby. They then drove through the Grand Canyon and returned to Albuquerque where Don resumed his studies. The family later returned to Lordsburg.

Church of Christ Reports Successful Evangelistic Campaign

The Church of Christ completed a successful evangelistic meeting led by Evangelist Clayton C. Root of Redlands and singer Grover Tk Gordon of La Habra. There were twenty one responses to the invitation including nine baptisms eleven transfers and one reconsecration. The Wednesday prayer meeting grew larger and expenses were covered by offerings leaving a substantial treasury balance. New song books were bought and the church is painting and repairing the building as weather permits.

Animal High School presented Marrying Off Father on Friday evening in a rodeo style play. Directors Mrs Ina Pflueger Mrs Mary Lee Fairly and Mr Taylor accompanied the cast. Proceeds will fund an eighth grade trip to Carlsbad Caverns on April 25 with County Superintendent Mrs Mary Lee Fairly.
