Yarbrough Helps NMSU Cowboys Win West Texas Rodeo Trophy
The New Mexico State University rodeo team won the high team trophy at the West Texas State University rodeo in Canyon Texas with 270 points. Clyde Yarbrough of Animas is a team member. South Plains Junior College finished second and Oklahoma State University third among ten schools competing.

Eaves Murder Trial Set for Next Tuesday
The district court murder trial of Archie L. Mike Eaves is scheduled to begin Tuesday April 21 before District Judge Garnett R. Burks of Socorro. Judge Norman Hodges was disqualified. Burks designated by the state supreme court to hear the case. Eaves is charged with the August 4 1963 shooting of Elmer Leon Whipple on South Main St. Mary J. Chojnicki faced charges dismissed. Eaves has been held without bond in the county jail since the incident.
