Wix Gauthier and Sons marks a thirty year milestone connected to Goodyear. The celebration underscores long standing ties with the tire maker and the local business community.
The Sunshine Girls installation at the K P Hall featured pastel decorations and candlelit officer stations. Installing officers Badgett Arthur Linda Mose and Mary Flor Bak presided as lights were lit after the ceremonial darkness.
Vernon Dean Taylor of Little Rock was shot in the Monterey bar restroom by Bill Williams of Lordsburg after a dispute about loot from recent thefts. Williams was arrested, Taylor died from a severed artery at the hospital.

The District Convention of the American Legion and Auxiliary will convene in Lordsburg on April 23 and 24. Harold Bishop invites reservations. registration is 2.50 including fee, dinner, and Saturday dance. Joint Legion and Auxiliary sessions are scheduled, with separate Sunday meetings for Legionnaires and Auxiliaries. About 150 members from Silver City, Hurley, Fort Bayard, Hatch, Las Cruces, Deming, Animas, and Lordsburg expected.
Mrs. Moselle Messecar and Mrs. Frank Bowman with their daughters were in Silver City on Monday for business.
Notice to dog owners for a final vaccination session this season on April 16 from 8 00 A M to 12 00 noon at city hall. Dr H M Kelley veterinarian from Deming will oversee the event.
About 400 people attended Lordsburgs first annual Easter Sunrise Service at the High School stadium. Rev. George Dunagan gave the invocation and Rev. L J Hrunner read the Easter Story as choirs from four churches provided music.
The Western Colts from Silver City defeated Lordsburg and Animas on the Lordsburg track. Mavericks dominated by winning five events led by Brito in pole vault 9 feet and Williams in high and low hurdles, totaling 72 points to Western's 104 and Animas' 11. Coach Goodman commented on the results while the page ends with a note about Benny Taylor.
The Lordsburg Senior Band will perform a student concert on April 20 at 9:00 A M in the High School Auditorium with free admission. A second public concert follows on April 22 at 8:00 P M in the same hall with a small admission fee.
The regular PTA meeting will be held Tuesday April 19 at 7 30 P M at the high school with the faculty meeting. Dr Reginal Fisher fine arts director of the Museum at Santa Fe since 1952 will speak and the high school chorus will present a short program.
