Tourist School Proving Popular In State

A. Bursey, named director of the New Mexico State Tourist Bureau, promotes statewide tourist schools to unite business interests from hotels to gas stations. The meeting at the Lordsburg courthouse next Thursday at eight o'clock will feature Bursey and aim to inform travelers about local attractions and travel opportunities in the sunshine state.

Lions Club Names Scofield Secretary After Hall Departs

The Lions Club held a noon meeting Tuesday where President Taggart announced Hall has left as secretary after two years to take a pastorate in El Paso. Scofield was elected to fill the unexpired term. The club voted to meet Mayfield’s invitation and plan relief work through Salvation Army support.

Woman's Club Selects Delegate for State Federation Meeting

The Woman's Club held its regular session naming Mrs. H. E. Scofield as delegate to the State Federation in Las Vegas this April. Guest FE G Hammock spoke on Art and Art Appreciation and showcased several paintings including A Portrait of a Navajo Woman and A Field of Yucca near Hachita, which the club later approved purchasing for the Club House.

The Dramatics present a one act play The Valiant in the high school auditorium at 8 o clock on April 18. Art Exhibit Promotes Art Appreciation in Lordsburg

The Woman's Club hosted an open house displaying E. G. Hammock paintings at the Ladies Club in Lordsburg. High school musicians directed by W. C. Dr. H. H. Conder returned home after attending an Optometric Extension Program clinic led by Dr. Ralph Barstow at the University of Southern California in Albuquerque. Conder is state director and a prominent figure in New Mexico meetings, with a NM Optometric Association business session followed by Barstow’s lectures on economics and psychology. He reports a fruit orchard he has an interest in was heavily damaged by frost, with early fruits destroyed though cherries and plums may survive.
