Reds Lead Legion Auxiliary Contest For New Members
The American Legion Auxiliary reports the Reds won the membership contest adding 25 new members. Fifteen joined the Reds and ten the Blues, raising total membership to 62, surpassing quota by eleven. A supper for Reds leaders Mrs. Moselle Messecca follows the next meeting at 7 pm on April 16 at the Woman's Club, with business session to follow. Initiation and officer installations planned. More than a dozen area officers attended FBI Law Enforcement training Tuesday night at the courthouse. R. B. Rice of the chamber of commerce gave the welcome, presented by Lordsburg police Chief Lalo Sanchez. Funeral services for James Edward Craig 61 were held Saturday afternoon at Heather Mortuary. The Rev Franklin Poage of First Methodist Church officiated. Burial took place in Mountain View Cemetery with pallbearers E D Wright George Woods Sher wood Culbertson Harry Wallace Edward M Fisher Sr and A G Carley. Craig born March 15 1868 in Rosita Colorado came to the area in 1891. His wife was left unnamed in the fragment.
