Progres sive Ticket Wins City Election Amid Races

In Lordsburg on Tuesday April 5 the Progres sive Ticket led by Ernest J Short finished with 449 votes for mayor while C L Buddy ran by with Degree Ellison 66 and D 8 Pen one. Trustees totals: Dewey Jones 404 I C Conner 410 Jack Heath 420 FE D Wright 417. Clerk Earl T Brown 913 votes Colquitt Oliver 82 E M Fisher Jr 401. Other tickets listed varying trustee tallies and no Citizens Ticket clerk candidate. Over twenty ballots were invalidated for illegal markings.

Sheriff Cavin Arrests Alleged Counterfeiter in Up-To-Date Case

Sheriff John Cavin arrested Samuel Worthington on suspicion of counterfeiting after finding nearly $1,000 in old coins and toolkits in his possession. Worthington claimed coin sales to raise money, while authorities noted counterfeit and burglary tools among his items. District Court Term Opens in Lordsburg With Judge Hay

The spring term of District Court convened in Lordsburg with Judge Coorge W. Hay, District Attorney Joseph W. Hodges and Court Stenographer Mrs. Margaret Betes in attendance.
