The annual Chamber of Commerce banquet will be held April 22 at 7 30 p m in the American Legion Hall. L D Wilson chief engineer of the New Mexico Highway Department will speak. GOC Appeals as Lordsburg Prepares Observer Post

The Air Force approves a Ground Observer Corps post in Lordsburg to be built near the water tower on South Main Street under Leslie Harvell. A review meeting is set for Monday night April 8 at City Hall with Sgt Carter and Mrs Scherling leading planning for observer training and schedules.

Traynor principal of Central and Wilson grade schools in Lordsburg was named co chair of the Cooperative Program in Educational Administration at a District 6 meeting in Silver City. He will assume duties September 1. Isldy Freeburg, local superintendent, attended and will be succeeded as chairman by Fred Whitaker, principal of Deming elementary schools.

Last Rites For Dear Malott At Heather Chapel

Edgar Malott sixty died after two weeks in hospital. Born July 4 1876 Mt. Crab Ohio he grew up in Papillion Nebraska and Nebr U of Nebraska graduate 1904. He taught school in Nebraska Kansas and Grand Blanc Michigan before entering newspapers and farming then returning to schools. He moved to Lordsburg in 1949 and was vice president of Lordsburg Liberal Publishing Co. Survived by Blanche wife two sons Gerald and Paul two sisters and four grandchildren. He was Methodist.

One Hospitalized Here In Series of Highway Mishaps

A crash spree near Hidalgo County produced three separate accidents. James Ramsey of El Monte California and Lorenzo Padillo of El Paso collided six miles east of town. Padillo charged with not under control. Harolde Secar of Kansas City Missouri rear ended a car driven by James Holibrook of North Carolina. Secar charged with not having control. Jay F.
