Sanchez Wins Local Spelling Contest
Ramon Sanchez Jr an eighth grade student at Lordsburg Junior High won the local spelling contest and will represent Lordsburg schools at the El Paso Herald Post Spelling Bee in May. Aiura Gandara placed second and Miriam Leichman third both also eighth graders. Ramon is the son of Mr and Mrs Ramon D Sanchez Sr of the city born April 10 1944. He attended Wilson School five years before sixth grade at the junior high and plays on the Junior High A basketball team.
