American Legion 42nd Birthday Observed in Lordsburg

Auxiliary members and friends gathered for a turkey dinner at the Legion Hall to mark The American Legion’s 42nd birthday and honor past post commanders and unit presidents of Revert Swan Post No. 30. Ten of the twelve living past commanders from Lordsburg attended. several were absent. The event featured iris and jonquil arrangements and included remarks by current leaders as plans for the Spring Conference and Legion Hall repairs were discussed for upcoming meetings.

Dental Mobile Unit Serves 238 Children

The Mobile Dental Unit of the New Mexico Division of Dental Health served 238 children from Lordsburg Municipal Schools over fifteen working days. Sponsored by the Parent-Teacher Association, funds aided indigent care via contributions from groups like Epsilon Sigma Sorority and the Moctezuma Club. A new trailer unit funded by the U S Public Health Service housed two chairs for dentistry and x-ray, with Dr. Leonard J. Volker leading the team assisted by Bill Rivera and Dan Quintana.

Extension Clubs To Convene April 7 Here

Hidalgo County Extension Clubs plan the District III meeting of New Mexico Association of Home Extension Clubs to be held at the Legion Hall in Lordsburg on April 7 with representatives from Catron Socorro Sierra Grant Luna Dona Ana and Hidalgo Counties. A luncheon will be served by the Methodist Ladis. The program aims to promote adult education in home economics through the Extension Service of New Mexico A and M College and to support broader educational and recreational efforts for home and community life. Homemaker's College will be held in Las Cruces June 7-10 for interested attendees.
