Wellington report notes a heat wave and a busy local scene. Union Schools opened Tuesday with many foreign pupils. Miss Kittie Vanator begins a full term in the district, her third in the same district. Twenty or so citizens left for the World’s Exposition Tuesday morning. Lew Dickey and Mrs. Dickey of Cleveland visit Hi Mason’s southwest township home. Will Mason returns from Chicago exposition. Rev Marcus Buell and Mrs Buell depart for Boston to assume duties at Boston M. E. University after thirteen months abroad, spending summer at Mrs Buell’s old home with the Houghton family.

The couple left for Chicago for two weeks at the World's Fair. Attending were family and neighbors including Wm Rich, Milton Davis, Willis Rich, Thos Hiatt, Frank Thomas, Jane Cox, Daniel Rich, Horace Ratcliff, Oscar Rich, Florence Ratcliff, N Ballanger, Wm Kimble of Indianapolis, Clara Ratcliff, Bertha Rich.
