Former Grafton mayor dies at 70 after decades of service
Thomas Smith, longtime Grafton mayor from 1984 to 1990 and later village council member until 2011, was remembered for generosity. He kept extra coats for inmates and releasees, giving away his own jacket when needed, a habit his family and colleagues say defined his life. His death on Jan 1 drew praise from coworkers and community members.
