Oberlin Mulls City Manager Search With RFP Approved
Oberlin City Council approved a request for proposals from a search firm to aid in hiring a new city manager. Interim manager Jon Clark has filled the role since May after Robert Hillard left for Charlotte, Michigan. The council seeks broader nationwide candidate access and faster processing, while finalizing the job description to be included in the RFP.

Amherst honors memory of Alex Louks killed by mother
Community members gathered in Amherst Township to remember third grader Alex Louks who was killed Nov 20 when his mother Risa Louks shot him and set the home ablaze before dying by suicide. The ceremony near the Powers Elementary School featured remarks by his father and school staff, a commemorative plaque, and a donation drive of stuffed animals for children in crisis.

Wellington home earns historic preservation tax credit
The ES Tripp House at 210 S. Main St in Wellington's Historic District received a 103000 tax credit as part of Ohio's Historic Preservation Tax Credit Program. Built in 1848, the house long linked to Wellington history has begun renovation after the Hattons bought it at auction for 54000 in 2023 and demolished unsafe portions to retain its legacy. Governor DeWine highlighted statewide support for preserving Ohio's historic buildings.
