City fire department members will choose whether to move annual officer elections from fire houses to City Hall. A special committee asked City Council to amend the fire ordinance, but divisions led to asking firemen directly. The committee's recommendation asks each company to vote for or against the change and report results with the election outcome.
Officials consider fate of North River and Brooklyn ferries with new Pennsylvania tubes. Alterations would repurpose main decks for vehicles and keep upper decks for passengers. Twenty third street ferry to run as usual unless traffic from the new terminal to Eighth avenue and Thirty second street drains demand.
At a Sunday meeting the First Congregational Church of Asbury Park unanimously voted to call Rev. H. N. Pfeiffer of Brooklyn who is serving as supply at a Presbyterian church there. The church lacked a pastor after Rev. J. T. Nichols resigned weeks ago. Summer Cottages Leaving. multiple North Long Branch cottages closed and owners returned to winter homes, including Mrs. A. T. Billington. Albright, Samuels and Levy families vacated Byron's Belarin for New York.

Trenton N J Sept 20 The Republican State convention opened with Attorney General Edmund Wilson named permanent chairman amid a clash over platforms with insurgents labeled self seekers. Mrs Allen K Adams of Atlantic Avenue will host the Jolly Twelve at her home tomorrow afternoon. Tea will be served and attendees are assured of a pleasant gathering hosted by a charming entertainer.

A dozen United Rebekah Lodge members visited Mrs. Marcella Becker, president of the Rebekah State Assembly, at her New Bedford home on Saturday night and presented a handsome chocolate set. Becker, before heading the state convention, served as district president for Monmouth and Ocean counties. She is known to Arioch and Beulah lodges in the area.
Laurie Isenor, driver for H. E. Eckstein, was held in 800 dollars bail awaiting grand jury action after his Buick struck 10 year old Johnny Ford on Broadway. The boy, severely injured, was carried to hospital by Patrolman Miller. witnesses said the driver was not speeding. The incident occurred as the boy darted from behind a machine into the street near Bath and Westwood avenues.

A tall stranger from southern Italy, misidentified as Amelia Biure, slipped through immigration checks near Sea View Avenue. He spoke no English, had no money, and wandered dazedly to the county line, seeking work and preferring jail time over detention. Chief Layton secured an interpreter.
Historic Long Branch homestead dating to 1784 is being torn down under C A Wright at the request of Mrs Elizabeth A Hance of New Britain Conn. Senator George T. Cranmer of Ocean led testimony in the case Borea Johnson v New York and Long Branch Steamboat Co in Trenton. A morning ceremony opened the old Presbyterian Church site at the Wallace and Broad street corner in Red Bank. A tin box containing 1855 1856 era papers and names from Monmouth and Middlesex papers was found, including Isaac Pennington White and William Scribner. Peter Hawkins, chief chef aboard the Bandy Hook last summer, was tried before Justice Williams at Atlantic Highlands on a charge of menacing crew with a cleaver. Captain, first mate, and crew testified to the kitchen dispute and intoxication. Sentencing was suspended, with costs paid by the defendant’s friends.
