Man Dies After Tripping on Street and Breaking Neck
James Hf VanBenschoten 32 of 616 Prospect Ave Asbury Park died from a broken neck after tripping on a street while rushing to answer a fire alarm. Two witnesses watched as he fell headfirst onto a telegraph pole and died instantly. An autopsy at the Ward morgue confirmed the cause as a broken neck with investigation expected.

Car No 19 of Monmouth County Electric Company led by Conductor Walter Gardner and Motorman Tony Merce was almost struck by a freight train at the New Jersey Southern crossing on Monmouth Street Red Bank.
