Very Light Turnout In City Election As Polls Close
At 1 pm the city recorded 581 votes from 2,883 registered, about four fifths still pending with polls closing at 7. District tallies showed modest activity across wards. Mechanic Injured by Falling Hammer at Morris Avenue Job
Rudolf Nicklaus a seventh avenue carpenter working on the Schnei der building in Morris avenue was struck on the head by a falling hammer from the second story. Howland 10 Awards Bridge Contract at Long Branch
The Monmouth county board of freeholders awarded a 254 foot reinforced concrete bridge contract over Takanassee Lake to Jesse A. Howland of Sea Bright for 27500 dollars. Bids ranged to 48900 and the project plans by John T. Simpson were adjusted to use square concrete piling. Work to begin in June and finish in early fall with credit attributed to Freeholder Daly of Long Branch. Also reports F J Heidl Jr purchased the Soffel property Broadway and Sixth Avenue from Citizens' National Bank for investment and possible future development.

Boy Injured Jumping From Freight Train in Belford
George Johnson fourteen son of Mr and Mrs Jacob Johnson of Belford was badly injured Saturday evening after leaping from a six o clock freight train that failed to stop at Port Monmouth. He struck his head suffering a torn scalp but was aided by Dr Budlong of Belford at Walling's grocery and taken home in his car after his wounds were dressed.

A horse hitched to a Jersey Coast Laundry delivery wagon frightened near Branch avenue and Spring street in Red Bank. Driver Ellie Luker of Belford was thrown and scratched on the left leg but uninjured overall. The horse bolted through Branch avenue to Broad Street and Irving Place, colliding with a garbage wagon, breaking a wagon side and shaft, and was finally captured. the horse sustained scratches on its leg.
