Bishop Confirms Class of Ninety Nine at Star of the Sea

The Rt. Rev. James A. McFaul Bishop of the Trenton diocese presided over a canonical visitation to Star of the Sea Church in this city yesterday. He confirmed a class of ninety nine parish youths and six adults alongside clergy from Trenton and neighboring towns Mrs. Bessie Herbert directed the choir with soloists Mrs. Heldi Jr and Mrs. Hughes among performers.

Immense Crowds Attend Brazo Funeral in Long Branch

The funeral of Paul Augustis Brazo drawn a large crowd from Long Branch and surrounding areas. Requiem High Mass at Star of the Sea Church was led by Rev. F. X. Langan with Miss Bersie Herbert at the organ. Bearers represented the deceased’s groups including Long Branch Council No. 29 Royal Arcanum Holy Name Society and Phil Daly Hose Co. The service featured selections including Heaven is My Home and Nearer My God to Thee.

Mrs McElhinney Leaves Elizabeth Hospital

Mrs Bucy Warwick McElhinney wife of Dr D R McElhinney of Elizabeth and daughter of former Councilman and Mrs W R Warwick has been seriously ill at an Elizabeth hospital. She is rapidly recovering and last week she was seen to leave the hospital and return home.

Gun Club Grounds Form New Society In Oakwood

The Long Branch Gun Club Association has installed traps on the Reid estate in Oakwood avenue and expects its first Memorial Day shoot. The club lists forty members with ongoing enrollment for new joiners and invites others to donate trophies for the best shot as it plans a large state tournament soon.

Chattle Defeats Atlantic Highlands in League Debut

Mrs Gordon Loses Handbag with Cash and Jewelry

Mrs Louis Gordon of Red Bank on Borden Street reports a handbag containing 124 dollars, two New York savings bank books, a gold watch and a diamond ring taken from under her pillow. She did not notice the loss until her daughter asked for money. Workmen had been at the house and a search warrant was issued but nothing recovered. Bank accounts in New York were stopped.

Mrs Freas Funeral Held for Elizabeth A Freas

Funeral services for Elizabeth A Freas will be held from her daughter’s home on Sixth Avenue at 1 30 PM and at Simpson M G Church after a half hour. Relatives and friends are invited.
