Reception for two clergy men in North Long Branch

Receptions were given two Methodist preachers in North Long Branch. Rev. Dr. Albertbert H. Eberhardt returned to Asbury M. E. Church for another year. Rev. Joseph W. Chasey of Milton, N Y, recently married, attended a reception with his bride. Mrs. Potter presented plants to the couple. A program featured solos, instrumental pieces, and readings. Chasey will take his first pastorate in Milton after a wedding in Washingtonville on March 6.

Hayes Training for Marathon Derby in Long Island

Johnnie Hayes of Long Branch trains on Long Island for the Marathon Derby at the Polo Grounds on Saturday April 2 aided by Pete Hegelman. The Olympic Marathon winner has offered 1000 to beat Thure Johanson or any other rival. Manalapan Farmer Injured Loading Manure in Stable

Manalapan farmer D. Probacco was badly hurt in Reed and Vander’s livery stable basement in Freehold yesterday while loading manure. A potato body on the wagon pinned him to the wall, injuring ligaments and paralyzing his lower body, and he was carried home.

Friends suspect murder in death of William Lynch

Friends and relatives of William Lynch question the death by own action theory. Ex President Michael J. Lynch doubts the suicide, Mount Vernon police also reject it. Lynch served 16 years with Mount Vernon PD and had worked for a New York detective agency. He was reportedly watching a married woman in New York’s orbit, with ties to Long Branch. The body shows seven marks under the chin, possibly from brass knuckles or a diamond rag. Lieutenant George Atwell claims murder, while Lynch’s devout Catholic views are noted. A real estate agent says Lynch winked and whispered about an important cave at Jersey City station. Friends say Lynch carried about 300 in his pocket and owned Westchester County property valued 10 000 to 12 000. (Continued on Sixth Page.)

Funeral services for Jacob J. Garrabrant were held yesterday afternoon at his Branchport Avenue home. Rev. Dr. Thomas O'Hanton of Jersey City, a lifelong friend, led the rites with Rev. Dr. H. R. Chicago Store Fire Kills Many Girls and Men

A general alarm fire at Lt. Fish Furniture Co on Nineteenth and State streets shortly before noon traps many workers on upper floors. Twelve to twenty people die while others are burned or flee the flames. The blaze breaks elevators and a benzine can explosion starts the fire.

Contract Signed for Phone Building in Third Avenue

R Taylor & Co of Asbury Park won a 30000 dollar contract to build a brick telephone building in Third Avenue near former Mayor Chandler's home. Architect is L W Hildta of New York. Officials from the New York Telephone Co signed the contract. Taylor & Co also to construct a Deal Beach cottage for Mrs Marguerite Knott at 38x44 feet two and a half stories costing 10000 dollars. Another Deal cottage is for Mary C Featherston built by Travis R Reed.

Long Branch Man Hurt Near Holmdel

Long Branch resident Peter McDonough was bumped from a wagon near Holmdel last Thursday night when his nurse frightened him. he finished the trip on three wheels with facial bruises and a broken wagon wheel. A Sea Bright tailor shop fire caused about 400 in damage due to cleaning solvent use. the Sea Bright fire department responded. Wilbur F. Carley completed metal window and door strip installations including work on Rumson road valued around 9,000.
