Daughters Visit Highlands Fraternity Gathering

Trolley Extension to Monmouth Beach Franchise Granted
The Atlantic Coast Electric Railway Company won a twenty year franchise from Long Branch to extend its line from Florence and Atlantic avenues to Monmouth Beach. Cars will run daily 6 30 to 11 pm with trips at least every twenty minutes and fares not to exceed five cents.

Man Moves to Keyport for Jersey Central Traction Work
George Sanborn of Broad Street Shrewsbury is set to move to Keyport on Thursday to be employed as a motorman by the Jersey Central Traction Company. Sanborn sold his team of horses recently to John Haley of Red Bank. A roan horse owned by Aaron Armstrong of Shrewsbury died Sunday from colic and bowel inflammation. the animal had previously placed second in a Monmouth County Fair farm teams event. Armstrong had refused a $350 offer two weeks earlier.

Old oak fish hawk nest removed in Shrewsbury
An ancient fish hawk nest in a 200 year old oak on Mrs. J. Bell’s Sycamore Avenue property in Shrewsbury was cut down after J. Wright Brown bought the property. The tree, over six feet in diameter, had housed the nest since 1870.

Ocean Grove Bill Hearing Faces Taxation Debate at Trenton
Dr. Aaron Ballard led opponents of a Ocean Grove incorporation bill before the Assembly Committee on Municipal Corporations in Trenton. The steamship Prinz Friedrich Wilhelm arrived in New York in a badly battered state after one of the worst sea battles. A giant wave last Wednesday smashed the starboard bow, tore out a partition and storm doors, and hurled passengers about causing many minor injuries.
