Louis James, prominent American tragedian and Long Branch summer resident, died of heart failure in Melena Montana after a blizzard ordeal that stalled his company. Born 1842 Tremont Illinois, he served as a Civil War sergeant before a 47 year stage career with Booth Barrett and Warde. He married Marie Wainwright and had a long performing history across major theaters. His body was sent to Kansas City and his wife Margie James survived him.

Mrs Mary Johnson aged 99 died yesterday afternoon at her home behind the Press Building on Third Avenue. Funeral services will be at 1 40 tomorrow at the house, with Myer and Fleck in charge. Burial at White Ridge cemetery. She is survived by a husband and several children.

Former United States Senator Thomas Collier Platt, veteran Republican power in New York, died suddenly of palsy and Bright's disease in his city apartment at age 76. He leaves family including Frank H. Platt and Larry Platt. funeral plans and burial near his first wife are noted. Born July 15, 1833, in Owego, he rose from druggist to senator, with early fame from singing campaign songs and local politics, later serving terms as senator and executive in business and quarantine boards.

Fall Proves Fatal For Asbury Park Painter
John H. Brower of Asbury Park died five days after a knee fracture from a fall on Bangs avenue and Bond street. He underwent surgery at Monmouth Memorial Hospital in Long Branch but could not withstand the operation’s strain. Brower, 56, is survived by his wife and son George. funeral services are at his residence Tuesday evening conducted by Rev M L Ferris.
