Blizzard Cuts Coast Off From World With Feet of Snow

A hurricane like blizzard dumps nearly two feet of snow along the coast and cuts telegraph and telephone lines, with tangled wires and fallen poles. Railroads falter nationwide as trains are stalled. passengers remain onboard as locals provide coffee and sandwiches. The Atlantic City Flyer and seashore trains are halted. trolleys cease service leaving commerce and travel at a standstill.

City Suffers Snowbound Crisis as Fire Alarm Fails

Heavy snow blankets city causing widespread disruption to traffic and business. Fire alarm out of commission. firehouses coordinate by telephones. Wires down, poles toppled along Broadway and rail lines. Outages persist. some electric service remains, but outside communication severed. Authorities work to restore lines and reestablish citywide safety.

Funerals Postponed By City Officials After Severe Storm

City notice from Funeral Director William H. Morris Jr states all funerals postponed until further notice due to a severe storm. Services were held at cemeteries and Daniel Clevenger’s service delayed. Street traffic telephones and communications are disrupted as crews work to reopen streets and restore service.

Firemen Battle Night Blaze on Second Avenue Cottage

Volunteer firemen fought a late night blaze on Second Avenue near Pavilion, targeting a cottage owned by L. A. Gleason. The effort was hampered by heavy snowfall that slowed access and embers, but responders arrived shortly after 10 o clock and battled the flames through the night.
