Former Sheriff John J Thompson, linked with Thompson’s Hotel in Highlands and Sea Bright Inn last summer, has leased the Old Pleasure Bay House from Peter Schlicker of Trenton. He plans extensive improvements, a modernized dining room, ample sleeping rooms, a dock, and private outbuildings for parties. The house, long a genteel riverside hostelry, closed after a decline in patronage and the license expired. Sheriff Thompson and his father were among Highlands’ early hotel men, and friends wish him success with the venture.
