Fire Engulfs Irene May Aboard Atlantic City Smack
A large blaze off Port Monmouth shoals last night burned the 200 ton fishing smack Irene May, ship's captain John Errickson badly burned with arms possibly amputated. Captain Daniel Seeley and Captain Antonius Gibson Jr aided in rescuing sixteen crew members before the vessel sank. Crews aboard nearby steamers arrived too late to help, the crew housed at Carroll's Shoal Harbor Inn, with Dr. Budlong dressing injuries.

A vacant Main Street frame house owned by Mrs. Pred Beale in Oceanport burned after an 1 am blaze. Fire damages limited in Shrewsbury yard blaze
The Red Back flames were spotted near Bridge avenue and Front street just before ten. Firefighters found a soft coal pile in Joseph N. Hance’s yard on Shrewsbury avenue, the third time the yard had burned in piles. Hose Company flooded the area and the fire was extinguished within about an hour with practically no damage reported.
