Mrs. Hatinah Holtson widow of Lemuel Holtson and mother of Arthur L. Hobson of Van Huiel & Holtson died at her son's 224 Chelsea avenue home after a six month illness. Funeral at Hobson's Baptist Church Saturday at two, burial at West Long Branch. Survived by daughters Mrs. Sarah Carley and Mrs. Elizabeth Pierce, brother William L. Lloyd, and son councilman A L Hobson. She was a nurse for forty years with a large clientage.

Woman Fatally Burned When Kerosene Can Exploded
Mrs Mary Cox 45 was fatally burned at her Farmingdale home while stoking a kitchen stove. A kerosene can exploded enveloping her in flames, killing her en route to Monmouth Memorial Hospital. Her 10 year old son William was badly burned. he was saved by a passerby and treated locally. The family had moved from Flitcroft to Farmingdale recently. Funeral services scheduled in Farmingdale.

Injured boy diver dies in Monmouth Memorial Hospital
James D. Covert Jr aged seventeen died after injuries from a diving accident in shallow water at the North Shrewsbury river near the Newman Springs Bridge. He had been living with the Van Schoicks in Red Bank since February and was a native of Shrewsbury. The incident occurred during a group swim when he dove from a springboard into about five feet of water. He was saved from drowning by John Oakes Jr. of Red Bank, then taken to hospital where he passed away about six o'clock. Funeral services will be at Wayside Methodist Church with interment in Wayside cemetery. Survived by his father James H. Covert, two sisters, and three brothers. Members of West Side Hose Company will attend in a body.

Forty five members of the Players Boat Club of Fair Haven enjoyed an annual outing to Sandy Hook yesterday. They traveled by motor boats from the North Shrewsbury river, swam and clammed for chowder ingredients, then dined on a clambake. A baseball game and an Olympic style set of events followed with prizes awarded by Frank W. Martineau. The party returned to Fair Haven at six and plans for a barn dance and another beach outing were announced for later in the month.

Runaway horse collides with autos on Broadway
A horse owned by Wilbert Van Cleaf bolted from in front of the Walkier building in downtown, dragging its wagon. It bumped a Flavell Co. auto, a Mulligan & Bra 20s paint store truck, and John Brazo’s car, bending axles and mud guards. Attempted suicide at Hollywood laundry on Brighton
Frank Lowenstein, operator of the Hollywood laundry on Brighton avenue, reportedly attempted to cut his wrists this morning. He was found in a pool of blood at the lower door, both wrists lacerated, condition weakened but stable after Dr. Charles J. Gremer and Monmouth Memorial Hospital care.
