Arthur Huff and Frank Reynolds two Shrewsbury boys were arrested Sunday morning at Matawan for stealing a horse and wagon and two bicycles. Detective Elwood Minagh brought them back to Red Bank for hearing and transfer to Freehold to await the grand jury. The spree began Friday night with break ins at Library Hall Charles toolhouse and A Holmes Borden store, including theft of candy and about 15 dollars.

A quo warranto action against the city health inspector was quashed after the examination. The court ruled the challenge lacked sufficient grounds to proceed, ending the pending inquiry into the inspector’s authority.
New Brunswick July 6 Senator George 8 Silzer announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for governor in a letter to Middlesex County Democratic Committees. He criticizes current leadership and outlines positions on rate regulation, direct primaries, equal taxation, anti bribery measures, and school funding.
Mr and Mrs Park M Woolley and their daughter Cornelia depart Long Branch bound for Carlsbad Germany aboard the Kaiser Wilhelm Jr of the North German Lloyd Line. Azariah Conover Bennett age 62 proprietor of Branchport Cash Grocery at 07 Branchport avenue died at his home corner of Jayne street and Branchport avenue following a lengthy illness. He built a large grocery business with wholesale and retail trade and chaired as a charter member of the Long Branch Board of Trade. Fraternally he belonged to Royal Arcanum Loyal Association and the Odd Fellows. He is survived by family and friends and was under care of Dr James Chasey. He was formerly employed by J J Garrabrant and William Hdison before starting his own business seventeen years ago. Rev Dr Neal visited him and heard him say he was ready to die.
At a Neptune Hose Company meeting a proposal to move annual fire department officer elections from fire houses to City Hall was approved by councilors. A committee of Sherman Beatty and Quinn will consult the solicitor and report next meeting while ordinance changes are studied for broader acceptance.
