Wright Home Opens Season For 200 New York Children

Two hundred children from New York arrive at the W. J. Wright Memorial Home on Hatontown boulevard to stay through early September. Matron Kathryn Weaver and volunteers prepare the facility run by the American Female Guardian Society and Home for the Friendless. Mrs. Washington Wilson oversees summer activities, including outings, straw rides, and outdoor games while volunteers provide daily services and meals.

Burglary on Broadway. two homes and store robbed

A fourth main thoroughfare burglary hits Broadway with two residences and a paint store targeted. burglars entered from the rear, took a heavy cash register, left the safe unlocked, and escaped with nothing else. A separate complaint reports about $50 stolen from George Cottrell during a funeral visit earlier in the week.

City Prepares Fifty Firework Displays for Fourth of July

Long Branch primes for a safe crowded Fourth with Ocean avenue viewing from the Takanassee Hotel. The holiday rush began yesterday with crowds at hotels and cottages, congestion at West End and Long Branch stations, and multiple baggage trains still on the road by nine o clock. Striped Bass Caught at Morris Avenue Beach

A six pound striped bass was landed from the Morris avenue beach by a hooked line fisherman who had left his line tied to the jetty. He noticed the tug after fellow onlookers drew his attention and then secured the fish after a hard fight. Several kingfish were also caught yesterday.

Long Branch Man Heroes in Florida Rescue at Sea

Joseph Egan, head plumber for East Coast Hotel Company, rescued five year old Eddie Foy after he fell overboard near St Augustine. Egan dived in without removing coat or watch, aided by a rope, and brought the boy safely aboard alongside Captain Cape. The incident drew praise from aboard passengers and crew.

Boy Robber Gang Busy at Shrewsbury

A gang of boys attacked Shrewsbury with break ins at A Holmes Borden store the public library and Charles White tool house. They stole candy ice cream and cash from the Borden store while witnesses report counting money but no action has been taken yet.

Woman Injured in Deal Auto Crash Near Sea Bright

Mrs Harold Reid of New York and Summer resident on Rumson road near Sea Bright was injured in a Deal automobile crash yesterday afternoon. Her Buick wrecked and her chauffeur unharmed. She suffered head facial and eye contusions and shock. The other car fled after the collision at Norwood and Hathaway avenues.
