Red Bank shooting leaves man wounded. suspects jailed

Last night in Red Bank a former Eisner factory employee George Shushman was shot and critically wounded in the neck shoulder and chest. Suspects David J. Bobrain and Mrs Ozat Kroskov were arrested at the Town Hall with hearings set for this afternoon. Witnesses describe a confrontation at Shushman’s boarding house and on Harrison Avenue ending with medical aid and transport to Monmouth Memorial Hospital.

Judge opposes new Long Branch high school plan

Long Branch, N J June 30 1910 Judge Wilbur A Heisley writes the Long Branch Record opposing a 160000 bond for a new high school. He argues taxpayers cannot bear the debt yet supports better education and urges property owners to protest before final action. A public hearing is scheduled at City Hall next Thursday.

A rumor spread through papers claiming Long Branch would play the Iowa Colored Giants at Asbury Park tomorrow, causing manager Phil Cohen to deny the report. Cohen said Long Branch, now known as All-Collegians, will play on the Division Street diamond and not at Asbury Park.

Water sports regatta set for Shrewsbury river event at Shallow Point

South Shrewsbury Ice Boat and Yacht Club completed arrangements for a regatta on the Shrewsbury at Shallow Point tomorrow afternoon starting at 2. Entries include 15 motor boats, nine large boats, five small boats. Boating classes distinguish twenty feet and over versus under twenty feet. A ladies rowing race may be held if participants join. The tub race is open to all with tubs supplied by the committee.

Transom burglars hit three Broadway candy and sugar stores

Three men, seen at Walklet's candy store at 2 am, forced transoms to enter three Broadway shops. They opened cash registers, took small sums, and escaped despite alarms. No candy stolen. one cap and a button dropped. Police notified.

After lawn games they rode to Asbury Park and back to New York on the last train praising Long Branch. they expect to return. Circle officers listed and several members named. Jeffries in doubt over health ahead of Johnson clash

Lead Pipe Thieves Captured by Patrolman Vetter

George Williams a laborer tied to a chicken theft ring was arrested by Patrolman Vetter in Second Avenue with a heavy bag containing lead pipe. The pipe likely came from the old New York Hotel on Fay Street opposite the Southern depot and was taken to City Hall for investigation. Williams pleaded guilty to breaking and entering and stealing. he faces grand jury action. Gloomy Gus was also jailed for lead pipe theft. both suspects are now in custody while the city seeks to close two long-running theft cases.
