A Baptist Union recital at Ist Baptist Church featured Mrs. T B Hughes in dramatic readings backed by J Acke tenor W S B Parker baritone and Prof F K Ball. Ball opened with organ and violin pieces while Hughes Parker and Ball drew encores. The night blended readings with musical numbers to strong audience praise.

Explosions at Shore Electric Plant Kill One Injure One

A boiler tube failure at Shore Electric Company's Red Bank power plant caused a blackout and severe burns to employee Lawrence Figaro. The incident led to temporary service disruptions at the Empire Theatre and local YMCA. Earlier, a similar accident occurred months prior, injuring another worker. Separate report from Buffalo recalls an engine boiler explosion near Vende killing engineer John P. Dwyer fireman Cook and brakeman Richard Frost.

Waneta Council entertains a Pocahontas evening in Red Men's Hall

Waneta Council No 13 Degree of Pocahontas hosted an entertainment night in Red Men's Hall. The program featured Mrvick son and Edwards with the Edwards orchestra performing in two parts. Highlights included Grand International Fantasia, Roses, Hearts and Flowers, and Delineations by Chester A Dennis and Delivering musicians Errickson Edwards and Edwards. A separate note reports a boy injured in a wagon fall and George Bailey returning home with a fractured arm. Sub Contractors Layton & Son secured a large contract related to the Rumson pond.

Esther Parker Ill With Spine Nerve Surgery Planned

Esther Parker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Parker of West Long Branch, is very ill in New York. Surgeons at the Parker home agreed Friday that only a spine nerve operation could relieve her suffering. Dr. Taylor, a nerve surgeon, will perform after the cliff was moved to Dr Bull's private hospital. A letter from Mrs. Parker says relief is hoped, though not guaranteed.

Arcanian group sets 91st anniversary celebration plan

Long Branch Council No. 429 Royal Arcanum installed new officers for 1911 and formed a committee to arrange a January 15 anniversary celebration later in the month. The orator is Part Regent Iein G. Sexton, with Past Regent J A Burns and others on the entertainment committee. The event will feature music, an address by a Grand Council officer, and refreshments after a Tuesday meeting at Sexton's residence.

Quarters for Sea Bright Post Office Relocated to Packer Buildings

Sea Bright post office will move after May 1 1912 to the Pres ent telephone exchange building owned by F Hall Packer for ten years, then to the Packer Perth store. the change follows approval by Inspector Wardell as the Nesbitt building proved inadequate. The new office will be sixty by sixteen feet. 7000 plus in business last year. hopes to become second class within a year. Contractor Luke’s father ill. Pier Sale Transfers Long Branch Pier to Ocean Construction

The Ocean Construction Company has taken possession of the Long Branch Pier and Land Company property after a sheriff's sale in Freehold. Samuel R. Rosoff obtained judgment against the Pier and Land Company for work performed. The new owners plan pier construction beginning about March 1, with litigation ongoing since December regarding the site and rights granted by the city to James C. Ewing and assigned to the Pier Company.

Gas Fitter Held For Diamond Theft

Atlantic Highlands gas fitter George Ferguson is held on $300 bond on a grand larceny charge for allegedly taking Lena Dewitt’s diamond from her Brevent Park home. The ring, a Christmas gift, vanished after Ferguson installed gas lines. a later search of his Sunday coat pocket recovered the gem. Ferguson waived all hearings, awaiting trial before Judge Foster at Freehold.

Blood Poisoning From Bite At Port Monmouth
